Mira's Art JOURNAL

My final video was a time-consuming process yet rewarding and inspiring a new passion for animation. I kept to the storyline that I had brainstormed previously, which starts with waking up in the Harry Potter Universe. I wanted to emphasize the contrast between a mundane daily routine of work and school and the whimsical learning environment that is Hogwarts.
One of my favorite tools was the green screen effects. I meticulously drew in a green screen frame by frame, so that my window view could be of Hogwarts. Once I apparated into the hallways of Hogwarts, that is when the artwork began!
For the background scenes and the cartoon of me as a Witch, I used Adobe Illustrator. I looked up the rooms/scenes in the movie and recaptured them all in the same cartoon aesthetic. Except for one scene, I did not include my facial features because having to redraw all the facial expressions seemed daunting. The story then follows me creating a potion to ‘cure’ all my learning disabilities. After drinking the potion, I feel so good like I’m flying, which transitions me on the Quidditch Field.
During the critique, most of the feedback was to raise the volume of my voice. If I had more time, I would edit out or lower the background music effects. I found myself dedicating a lot of time to working on the animation and feeling a bit behind on polishing transitions or perfecting the audio.
