Mira's Art JOURNAL

Artist Bio
My name is Mira Kearns, and I am a student at CU Boulder, majoring in studio art practices and minoring in education. I believe art is a vital part of human culture and there is always more to learn through creating.
I would like to share my Artist’s journey;
I was born in Guatemala, however, I grew up in New Hampshire until my freshman year of high school, when my family moved to Colorado. My mother is an artist and I grew up learning how to paint from her. I love watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints. My favorite medium is oil pastels, due to the thick texture and the vibrant colors they provide. Art has always been a form of therapy- a creative way to reflect and express my emotions. My aesthetics are inspired by artists, such as Van Gogh and Claude Monet, due to their expressive, bold brush strokes and the nostalgic feelings in their artworks.
As an art student, I have had the opportunity to explore many different mediums, however, I have the least experience with digital art. Last Spring semester I took a photography class that inspired my passion for film and other digital mediums. During the class, I worked with Photoshop, and I was amazed by all the editing tools. The process was meticulous, however, the end products always looked professional and I was able to use many different effects and filters.
Having digital art skills is imperative to an artist's career as we live in an environment where technology and social media are so influential. I am very interested and excited about the Digital Art Experience!
