Mira's Art JOURNAL

The term net-art being inspired by a glitch is fascinating, as net.art created an entire new art movement. This way of thinking reminds me of your ideology in digital art; breaking down technology and creating art from this process. It is compelling how the art community was not afraid of art becoming sited (internet art) and rather adapted to the internet as a new art medium. It brings up similar concerns, such as AI taking over the art, because I think artists will find a way to incorporate AI into their art. The article’s description of net.art as “building an equitable community in which art was conspicuously present in one’s everyday activities” emphasizes that anyone can access net art at any time. Like the internet, art is becoming fast-paced as well. Heath Bunting’s Kings Cross Phone-In Project is especially interesting because of how interactive the site was with the users. Similarly, Jodi.org is fascinating, because the article explains the project as “your machine in the language of network and hardware”, matching the theme of looking into the web through a mechanical lens. Like net.art, Gifs also impacted the art world greatly. While GIFs might not be universally recognized as "high art," their communicative and visual creativity significantly impacted net.art. I’m excited to make a net.art with the “create your own adventure” website!
